Assessment-Based ABELE Mastery Course

Introduction

Assessment Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to assessments under the Assessment-Based ABELE Mastery Course, unless a particular assessment specifically provides different instructions.

1. Passing Score

The passing score for all assessment types is 90%.

This applies to:

  • Practice Quizzes

  • Topic Mastery Exams

  • Subject Mastery Exams

  • Pre-Board Exams

  • Mock Board Exams

The passing score is intentionally set at 90% as part of Tambong Online ABE Review's mastery-oriented approach.

Reviewees are encouraged to aim beyond the minimum licensure-examination requirement and develop a stronger margin of preparation, accuracy, and confidence before taking the actual board examination.

A score below 90% should not be treated simply as failure. Instead, use the result to determine which areas still require review and improvement.

2. Practice Quizzes

Practice Quizzes focus on a particular subtopic or competency.

  • Items: 25 Questions

  • Passing Score: 90%

  • Maximum Attempts: 50

  • Question Selection: Randomized from the corresponding question bank

Because the question bank contains more questions than are presented in a single attempt, succeeding attempts may contain a different combination and sequence of questions.

Answer choices may also be shuffled where appropriate.

Practice Quizzes are intended for repeated practice, reinforcement, and competency development.

3. Topic Mastery Exams

Topic Mastery Exams evaluate your integrated understanding of the subtopics and competencies covered within a particular topic.

  • Items: 50 Questions

  • Passing Score: 90%

  • Maximum Attempts: 50

  • Question Selection: Randomized from the corresponding topic question bank

Unlike Practice Quizzes, Topic Mastery Exams require you to work across a broader range of concepts and determine which principles, equations, or problem-solving methods are appropriate for each question.

Each attempt may contain a different combination and sequence of questions.

4. Subject Mastery Exams

Subject Mastery Exams evaluate your ability to integrate knowledge across the major topics and competencies of an entire ABELE subject.

  • Items: 70 Questions

  • Passing Score: 90%

  • Maximum Attempts: 50

  • Question Selection: Randomized from the corresponding subject question bank

These examinations are broader than Topic Mastery Exams and are intended to help prepare you for comprehensive subject-level assessment.

Each attempt may contain a different combination and sequence of questions.

5. Pre-Board Exams

Pre-Board Exams are comprehensive, 100-item subject examinations designed according to the applicable ABELE Table of Specifications.

  • Items: 100 Questions

  • Passing Score: 90%

  • Maximum Attempts: 50

  • Question Bank: Exactly 100 manually selected questions

  • Question Order: Shuffled

  • Results: Released immediately after submission

Unlike the previous three assessments, Pre-Board questions are not randomly drawn from a larger question bank.

The question bank for a particular Pre-Board contains exactly 100 questions deliberately selected by the course administrators. All 100 questions are presented in every attempt, although their order may be shuffled.

This allows the examination to maintain the intended distribution of topics and competencies while still varying the order in which questions are encountered.

6. Mock Board Exams

Mock Board Exams are intended to simulate the scheduling, time pressure, pacing, endurance, and discipline associated with the actual licensure examination as closely as practicable within an online setting.

  • Items: 100 Questions per Subject

  • Passing Score: 90%

  • Question Bank: Exactly 100 manually selected questions

  • Question Order: Shuffled

  • Maximum Attempts During the Scheduled Mock Board: 1

  • Maximum Attempts After the Scheduled Mock Board: Increased to 50

  • Results: Currently released immediately after submission unless otherwise announced

During the official Mock Board schedule, only one attempt is allowed. Reviewees are therefore expected to treat the scheduled examination seriously and follow the announced examination schedule.

After the scheduled Mock Board has concluded, the maximum number of attempts may be increased to 50, allowing the examination to remain available for further review and practice.

Mock Board settings, including result-release arrangements, may be adjusted in future scheduled examinations when necessary. Any changes will be announced before the examination.

7. Repeated Attempts

For Practice Quizzes, Topic Mastery Exams, Subject Mastery Exams, and Pre-Board Exams:

Repeated attempts are encouraged not for memorizing answers, but for strengthening understanding, improving accuracy, and becoming more familiar with different ways the covered competencies may be assessed.

Reviewees are encouraged to review their mistakes before immediately attempting the same assessment again.

When an answer is incorrect, determine whether the difficulty resulted from:

  • insufficient understanding of the concept;

  • incorrect formula or method;

  • computational error;

  • incorrect interpretation of the question;

  • unfamiliar terminology;

  • poor time management; or

  • another area requiring improvement.

The purpose of repeated assessment is progressive mastery, not simply increasing an attempt count.

The scheduled Mock Board is an exception because its initial one-attempt limit is intended to preserve the examination-simulation experience.

8. Results and Automatic Submission

Assessment results are generally available immediately after submission under the current course settings.

This includes the Pre-Board Exams.

Mock Board results are also currently released immediately unless a different result-release arrangement is announced for a particular scheduled examination.

When the time limit reaches zero, the assessment will be automatically submitted. Reviewees should therefore manage their time carefully and avoid leaving unanswered questions until the final moments of the examination.

9. Question Randomization and Shuffling

It is important to distinguish between randomized question selection and question shuffling.

For:

  • Practice Quizzes

  • Topic Mastery Exams

  • Subject Mastery Exams

questions are randomly selected from a larger corresponding question bank.

For:

  • Pre-Board Exams

  • Mock Board Exams

the question bank contains exactly 100 manually selected questions. All questions are presented, but their order may be shuffled.

Answer choices may also be shuffled where appropriate.

10. Academic Integrity

Complete every assessment independently and with academic integrity.

Unless otherwise stated, do not engage in answer-sharing or use unauthorized assistance, references, applications, artificial intelligence tools, or other resources to obtain answers during a timed attempt.

Only calculators, references, tools, or materials specifically permitted for the assessment should be used.

The purpose of the course is to determine and improve your own level of preparation. Obtaining a high score through unauthorized assistance defeats the purpose of assessment and provides an inaccurate picture of your readiness for the actual licensure examination.

Your preparation, discipline, and commitment to learning remain among the greatest factors in your success in the board examination.

11. Technical Responsibility

Before beginning an important assessment:

  • ensure that you have a stable internet connection;

  • use a sufficiently charged or powered device;

  • prepare permitted calculators and materials beforehand;

  • choose a quiet and appropriate testing environment; and

  • make sure that you have enough uninterrupted time to complete the assessment.

Avoid intentionally refreshing, closing, or leaving the assessment page while an examination is in progress.

If a significant technical problem occurs, document the issue when possible and contact the course administrator.

12. Final Reminder

The purpose of this course is not simply to accumulate passing scores.

Assess → Review → Correct → Practice → Improve → Master

Do not be discouraged by difficult assessments or unsuccessful attempts. Use them to identify exactly what still needs to be learned.
